Remington Elliot pepper box in .32 rimfire.
Defects:
Barrel axis screw silver soldered in past
One other screw replaced with copy.
Pitting in bores as shown.
Peening between barrels from past dry firing.
Very slight looseness in barrel axis and latch when closed. (20-30 thou) Perfectly normal for this type and age. A couple of 10 thou washers on the barrel axis screw would eliminate most of this I think.
Positives:
Antique status: no PAL required to buy, but must provide proof of age over 18 years.
A lot more portable than most antiques.
I have no reason think it is not safe to use with .32RF blackpowder ammo.
Mechanism seems to work very well with powerful strike from firing pin
Little if any actual wear to rifling.
Minimal pitting overall
Original nickel plated finish (with loss as shown)
