Airgun & Airsoft Air Rifles

My research of this British made vintage Diana 27 air rifle is that it’s a break barrel, comes in .177 calibre, weighs approximately 6 lbs. and measures around 42 to 43 inches (107-109 cm) in overall length. The serial number 275831 suggests a Milbro Diana Model 27 air rifle manufactured in Motherwell, Scotland, likely in the mid-to-late 1950s.
However, the previous owner placed a brass plaque on the rifle stock “Diana no. 27 1939”.

My research shows that it’s a British-made Diana 27 from 1939, however, Diana (Haenel) was a German company making air rifles in Germany then, though they were popular worldwide, including in Britain; however, you could certainly find a German-made Diana 27 sold in Britain around that time, possibly a pre-war model with a simple stock, but it would still be a German product, not a British manufacturing effort.

Key Points:

  • German Origin: Diana air rifles, including the Model 27, were made by the German company Haenel.
  • Pre-War Models: Before WWII, Diana made Model 27s, but they looked different (no forearm) than later versions.
  • British Market: These German rifles were imported and sold in the UK, so you'd find them there, but they weren't made in Britain.

Conclusion
A Diana 27 from 1939 does exist and was available in Britain, but it was manufactured in Germany.

Mechanics
All original and all parts have been lubricated and are functioning including the original Spring, shoots .177 pellets  and no PAL is required. It shoots very accurately, consistently and is very easy to cock.

Trigger

  • Ball-Sear Mechanism: The most unique aspect is the use of three small ball bearings that sit in an inner sleeve and interact with an outer sleeve when the gun is cocked.
  • Two-Stage Pull: The trigger is a two-stage design, often described as having a long, light first stage followed by a crisp, clean-breaking second stage.
  • Non-Adjustable Weight: The total length of the trigger pull and the actual pull weight are generally fixed by the design, although the second stage engagement point can sometimes be adjusted to a lighter let-off.
  • Smooth Feel: Despite its mechanical simplicity, users often praise the trigger for its positive, high-quality feel and smooth operation, comparing it favorably to other high-end triggers of its era like the Rekord.

Wood Stock
The wood stock has been refinished and the front and rear sights are not original but can be replaced with “original sights”, if preferred.
