To sell, trade or give an air gun that is less than 500fps, or a flintlock mussle loading rifle, a PAL(Possession Acquisition License) is NOT required.

To sell, trade or give a Non-Restricted firearm that requires a PAL(Possession Acquisition License), you must see that the buyer has a valid PAL. As of the April 5, 2012, Non-Restricted firearms are NOT required to be registered.

However, currently laws for Non-Restricted firearms are different in the province Quebec. As it currently reads on the CFP website, "Until further notice, due to ongoing litigation, Quebec residents are required to register non-restricted firearms with the Canadian Firearms Program."

To sell, trade, or give a Restricted firearm​, you must call the CFP to arrange transfer of registration, and to acquire an ATT so that you can legally move the firearm to your residence. You can reach the CFP at 1-800-731-4000
