Vintage 1950s Järvenpää "Gala" Scout Puukko: An exceptional, quality example of mid-century Finnish craftsmanship manufactured in Kauhava, Finland, circa 1955–1962. Measuring 7 inches overall with a 4-inch factory-bright carbon steel blade and 8.5 inches total when enclosed in the sheath, this collector-grade parade knife (Partiopuukko) features a factory-bright carbon steel blade engraved with a stylized Kauhava maker's mark. The handle is composed of premium white Galalith showing authentic vintage internal crazing, accented by alternating red and black synthetic spacers with brass shims, and is capped with a ridged aluminum pommel. It comes complete with its original leather sheath that transitions from a round collar to a flat rectangular body embossed with an Ostrobothnian floral motif (Helavyö). The sheath is reinforced with nickel-silver fittings featuring hand-cut geometric chiseled decoration (Tikkelöinti), a traditional ball-tip chape (Kärkihela), and its original hanging ball chain and belt clip attachment.
Very good condition. Does not appear to have been used much or even sharpened. There are a few spots of shallow pitting on the non-engraved side. Possibly from storage. Previous owners name (?) on back side of sheath (see photos)
