Selling this functional Colt Model 1889 Navy double action revolver, chambered in .41 Long Colt. Serial numbers place manufacture prior in 1890 making this an early example within the first year of the model's creation - no PAL or registration required for anyone 18+ to own this Antique.

Mechanics:
All is mechanically fair. The cylinder spins freely counter clockwise when the hammer is not engaged - this is normal, as-designed function for this model. The cylinder can be forced backward when the hammer is not cocked also, although when cocked, the cylinder indexes reliably and locks up reasonably tight especially in the firing position which has only minor (~0.5mm) side to side play. The 1889 is unique and highly sought after for its left-side flip-out cylinder, a feature that made reloading noticeably faster and easier than contemporary gate-loaded designs. The ejector works as intended.

Visuals:
Fair condition. Finish shows traces of original blueing that has worn to an even, steely-grey patina overall. Original hard black grips are included, with a chip in the bottom corner of both panels. I can include replacement black or royalwood grips for $155. Left side of the barrel is stamped "COLT D.A. 41," and the right side carries the two-line address "COLTS PT F A MFG CO HARTFORD CT U.S.A." with patent information on the second line "PATENTED AUG 5th 1884 NOVEMBER 6th 1888". Batch assembly numbers match 105 throughout showing this has all original, factory fitted parts. The serial, 93XX shows this revolver was manufactured in 1890. The 4.5" barrel has still evident rifling with scattered black powder corrosion.

History:
The Colt Model 1889 was Colt's first swing-out double action revolver and the design that launched Colt's DA Navy lineage, carried through the 1892, 1894, and 1895 variants. Its left-side flip-out cylinder was a genuine innovation for quick reloading in its era, setting it apart from the single-action guns that dominated the market at the time.

A solid find for the Colt DA collector chasing an honest, matching-numbers early example.
