Belgian-made Royal Irish Constabulary (RIC) type revolver, top strap marked "BRITISH CONSTABULARY" and left barrel marked "CAST STEEL." Liege ELG proof present, confirming Belgian proof and pre-1893 antique status - no PAL, no registration, 18+. Chambered in .44 Russian, available through rustywood.ca and Last Mountain Reloading, or reloaded from cut-down .44 Special/Magnum brass. Mechanically sound throughout. 6" barrel with strong, crisp rifling. Double action only, as designed - the hammer does not hold at any position, and lockup is tight with almost no wiggle. Ejector functions exactly as intended. No mechanical issues.
Condition is Fair, worn honestly. The finish has gone to a steely grey patina overall with light, inactive pitting, consistent with a working sidearm of this age. Screw heads and knurling remain strong throughout with no marring or damage. One-piece hardwood grips show strong, distinct checkering, and the original lanyard ring is present.
The RIC pattern was popularized by Webley for police and colonial constabulary use, and genuine examples were expensive enough that Belgian makers in Liege turned out large numbers of close copies for export to British constabulary and colonial markets. A gun marked "BRITISH CONSTABULARY" like this one would have armed a rank-and-file officer during a period when forces like the Royal Irish Constabulary policed a turbulent Ireland.
