Offered here is an antique British Webley Mark I* six shot revolver with an uncut .455 Webley cylinder and a 4-inch barrel. Serial number "26402" is marked on the bottom of the frame forward of the trigger guard. The backstrap is marked "1.97 | 3.H / 38". 92% of a military arsenal refinish blue remains. The bore is very good overall, with little surface pitting  . Extractor works perfectly. Mechanics are very good in double action. Occasionally in single action, it gets stuck. Mild  side to side wiggle of the cylinder in lock up. no front back movement of the cylinder.  Slight side to side wiggle of the barrel on the receiver typical of these revolvers. Two piece black checkered hard rubber factory grips are nice, with no chips or cracks. The mk1*star modification was done in 1897 to replace a fixed standing breech with a removable breech plate, and the revolver was likely arsenal refinished at that time. The majority of these revolvers were sent to the Navy, but more rare - is NOT a naval marked gun.
