Remington 1861 Navy in 36 caliber percussion. 7 3/8" barrel, 6 shot. Introduced in 1862 during the middle of the American Civil War, 5000-6000 were produced. Confederate forces preferred the 1861 Navy over the 1861 Army. This is definitely one of the earlier variants as most later ones had a 7.5" barrel. A great piece of American Civil War history. Action works well with good timing and some common play in lockup. Hammer seems to have a bit of final drop resistance just before it would strike the primer, likely needs an adjustment. Original grips are rough and have alot of repairs and chips etc, perhaps it was used to pistol whip somebody back in the day? Replacement grips could be acquired if desired. Bore and cylinder holes in good shape, bore has strong rifling with some old black powder pitting. Cylinder nipples in nice condition. Cylinder has some fore and aft movement. Overall a unique seldom seen Civil War Remington revolver. Antique status, no PAL required to purchase or own. Will include an RCMP FRT printout showing antique status in Canada. $2250 includes Free Shipping, insurance extra, EMT preferred.
