Winchester model 1895 flat side sporter in .30 US (.30/40 Krag). Made in 1896. 28” barrel and 12.75” LOP. Checkering looks to be an afterthought, but nicely done. Receiver bluing is decent. Barrel blue is almost gone. Bore is good. Lots of patina, but no pitting over the whole gun. No cracks in the wood. One box of 1960’s vintage Winchester ammo to go with it.
Flat side models were only for the first couple years of 1895 model production. They changed to the scalloped receivers shortly after the introduction of the model. High condition flat side 95’s can bring almost 10k. Priced accordingly. This is an excellent opportunity to get into collectable antique Winchester rifles without breaking the bank.
