A highly desirable 1917 RSAF Enfield No.1 Mk III (SMLE) chambered in .303 British, manufactured at the Royal Small Arms Factory, Enfield during WWI.
All currently visible serial-numbered major components are matching, including the receiver, bolt, barrel, nose cap, and rear sight leaf. The fore-end serial number is heavily worn but remains faintly visible and appears consistent with the rifle’s serial number. Other components inspected show military acceptance and inspection markings rather than conflicting serial numbers.
Importantly, this rifle retains the original magazine cut-off, a desirable feature of the Mk III configuration that was eliminated from the simplified Mk III* pattern.
The rifle shows honest military service wear and natural patina throughout, with numerous British military proof and inspection markings still present. The bore is relatively bright with clearly visible rifling; please refer to the photos for details.
A very attractive WWI SMLE with an unusually strong degree of visible matching originality.
