Grade A Karabiner K98 Russian Capture Mauser K98k with Bayonet and Scabbard - (Rare Winter Variant)

Up for sale is a beautiful Russian capture German Mauser K98k rifle, with some matching serial numbers. This particular example is a rare “winter variant”, featuring the larger trigger guard designed specifically to allow the use of heavy gloves in freezing conditions. It also comes equipped with a removable snow-cap muzzle cover — an uncommon accessory that further supports its intended cold-weather use.

Based on its features and configuration, it is believed this rifle saw service on the Eastern Front, where harsh winters and brutal fighting defined much of the campaign. The stock is fitted with the butt cup, and the rifle’s receiver is dated 1940, a year well known among collectors for its exceptional early-war manufacturing quality. This model also incorporates the newer stock design introduced shortly before large-scale wartime production changes.

As with most Russian captures, the rifle has been arsenal refinished, and while not all parts are matching, the overall condition is very good, with sharp markings, strong bore and solid mechanics. Included with the rifle is an original WWII German bayonet and scabbard — both genuine wartime items, though not matching to the rifle’s serial number.

This K98k offers a combination of rarity, collectability, and shootability.
