The British Army smock is arguably the coolest military jacket ever designed. It is truly a field oriented coat with tons of features to make it extremely usable. It is sewn in a gabardine weave, which is a tighter weave, making it a more windproof garment. 

There are four large front pockets with special fold over flaps to keep items from ever falling out. It features "Canadian" style buttons that are easily repairable in the field. There are also draw strings on both sides of the waist and all the way along the bottom. The hood has an internal wire which enables you to form it perfectly for any condition. The material is heavy duty windproof to act as an over layer above standard issue uniforms and warm weather gear, forming a layering system to fight the cold weather.
