Up for sale is a authentic vintage South American Gaucho knife (Cuchillo Criollo) and matching sharpening steel (Chaira) set, complete with its original hand-stitched leather sheath. Made in Montevideo, Uruguay, by the renowned maker J.M. Mailhos.

​Item Details:

• ​Maker: J.M. Mailhos (Montevideo, Uruguay)
• ​Blade Markings: Clear stamp featuring the signature hunter figure ("Cazador"), J.M. MAILHOS MONTEVIDEO, and AUNÓN ACERO (carbon steel).
• ​Era: Approx. late 19th to mid-20th century (c. 1890s–1950s).
• ​Handle Material: Traditional Armadillo Tail (cola de mulita), featuring the natural, segmented armored rings.
• ​Included:
  1. ​Carbon steel Gaucho blade
  2. ​Matching armadillo tail sharpening steel (Chaira)
