WWI German Trench Knife

WWI German trench knife in excellent condition.

Was told it was an officers trench knife because the bayonet portion has been ground off but not entirely sure it wasn't done by a regular soldier made to look like an officers knife. 

Recieved in a trade and am trying to make some room.
