Blades Knives & Tools

Less common than the Martindale golok, the Martindale 227 bolo machete was issued to British commandos in the Pacific theatre of WWII and the Malay emergency. This veteran blade is 20 inches overall length with  15 inch carbon steel blade and comes in the issue sheath, stamped BH&G 1952 (broad arrow) Cat No KE3513.  Weight is about 650 grams. Traces of the original bluing can be found near the grip; blade has been armourer blackened; handle has evidently been replaced, reshaped and refinished; sheath has been reinforced at the tip. The edge geometry is good, and it would take only a few minutes with a diamond hone to make it shaving sharp again.
