1863 Ryuginsai Hirotsuna Japanese Katana Sword

42 1/2-inch-long Edo-period Japanese Katana. Signed blade reading "Ryuginsai Hirotsuna, In His 70th Year, For Yoshiuyuki, August 1863." This is an original handmade blade. The blade is heavy and thick. There is not much information on the swordsmith online, but the Nikkei Museum has an example in its collection. The fittings are good quality and the wrapping is tight. Papered examples are trading at $7000  - $11 000, so I have priced this sword accordingly. It is a lovely display item for those interested in Samurai history.
