Wanted 336A forend cap

I bought a 336A in 3030 awhile ago. Seems the forend cap is not the right one. When I removed it to go over the gun completely, I found the screws were stripped. Got some new screws, for free, from my nice gunsmith. No way could I get that cap back on . I had a spare for a 30AS, compared them and the holes were lower on the one I took off. The 30AS cap fit properly, but no sling attachment. Hope someone can help me out.
