Authentic sling for Type 56 Semi-Automatic Rifle (SKS), rather than Type 56 Sub-Machine Gun (AK-47). Period correct yellow-ish green canvas with uncoated metal fittings and faux leather straps in excellent condition.

Marking is very clear. Reads "Type 56 7.62 Semi-Automatic Rifle Sling". No manufacturer code or year.

The story I know of is that the Great Chinese Famine (1959-1961) caused significant supply shortages that slings needed to be simplified around the early to mid 60s. This sling is considered a rather rare variant.
