*Sale pending* This is a beautiful and rare Antique example of the Webley W.G. Army revolver in .455 Webley. The Webley-Government, with only about 22000 produced between about 1885-1902, was one of the most popular of Webley's revolvers, commonly bought by British officers as an elegant and reliable sidearm used from the Zulu and Boer wars to WW1. There were two main variations of the W.G. - the "Army" and the "Target". According to Forgotten Weapons, "The Army typically had a bird’s-head grip and a 6 inch barrel, where the Target had a longer 7.5 inch barrel & flared square-butt grip, as well as adjustable sights. However, Webley was happy to supply a mix of features to a customer, and many branded patterns exist." This example is an Army with the 6" barrel, but interestingly has a flared grip. As a pre-1898 Antique, this can be bought and owned in Canada by those over the age of 18 with no registration.

She's a shiny 'ol gal this one. Possibly refinished, but the surface is very clean with almost no wear, so could be original. The writing and stamps are strong, including "ARMY & NAVY C. S. L." on the barrel, "WEBLEYS PATENTS" and Webley winged bullet logo on the left of frame, & serial 63xx and 6 Ton Nitro Proof test marks on the right. Serial 10,000 was made in 1896, so this was likely made in 1895. The beautiful hardwood grips have the remnants of some name placard that lacks writing inlaid on the left side, meaning it was probably owned by someone of at least moderate means.

The mechanics are strong from the action to the ejector. She has consistent cycling, timing, and operation in both single and double action, with a pleasant trigger pull. This is an accurate gun - I have fired a few cylinders full. The fluted cylinder has proofs on every chamber, and the last 3 digits of the serial on the face. It has the patented quick remove cylinder release lever making maintenance and cleaning easy. The bore has rifling down all 6 inches, but definite oxidation and wear from nearly 130 years on this planet. The lockup when firing has only a small amount of wiggle room, for consistent performance.

This is a fantastic gun. Feel free to reach out with any questions or to make a deal.
