I am parting with my beautifully engraved fine European revolver made by the esteemed Nicolas Joseph Dessard of Belgium in .380 CF which luckily happens to also chamber and shoot .38 S&W. This compatibility makes ammunition attainable custom loaded with black powder or purchased in cowboy loads such as from rustywood.ca while retaining Antique status from the .380 design. NJ Dessard was located at 183 Haigneux Street in Liege, Belgium from 1871-1873. The city of Liege is iconic for its vast concentration of arms craftsmen in the mid to late 19th century, and this location is key for Antique status as the revolver features a pre-1893 Liege "ELG" oval proofmark on the cylinder proving it was made prior to 1898. It further comes with an FRT entry page proving Antique status.
The condition of this revolver is excellent, with the mechanics being fully functional in single and double action. The indexing, action, top break latch, and lockup are reliable with very minor (<1mm) side to side play of the cylinder that still allows for accuracy and consistency when shooting. The hammer pulls back crisply, with a rebounding hammer that makes indexing to the desired chamber painless and keeps you safe from misfires that would result from dropping the revolver.
The mechanics are not the only things that reveal luxury craftsmanship, as the showstopping surface details feature beautiful hand engraving on the frame, backstrap, barrel, top strap, and even the trigger guard and grip screw housing. If the expert and intricate engraving were not enough, this revolver has also retained about 80% of original blueing featuring dusky hues ranging from blue to purple, and remnants of straw colours on the trigger, ejector, and hammer. The ebony or horn grips are in exceptional shape with no significant dings, chips, or marring which is nearly unheard of in a revolver that's over a century and a half old.
I can include a handmade leather holster with 12 round ammo pouch for $150 if wanted.
Comes with FRT Antique page.
