She shoots, she scores, she dies...This was once a fully functional and stunning revolver - now, everything about this revolver is still functional and stunning except for 3 of the things that NEED to work for it to function (lol):
- Mainspring (broken)
- Trigger return "V" spring (broken)
- Cylinder hand/pawl spring (broken)
Luckily, all of these are springs and the process for remaking them is similar. I have received a quote from a gunsmith for about $300-400 dollars to do all 3. It seems that the spring steel originally used did not handle aging very well, but luckily with all 3 major springs in this revolver broken it means once replaced with new built ones it should be good to last for generations more.
As a pre-1898 Antique, this can be owned with no PAL or registration. Compact yet powerful, she shoots .44 Webley / .44 Russian black powder or cowboy pressure smokeless load projectiles, and with the approx 5" barrel is quite accurate.The original hard black grips are solid featuring the classic bulldog head emblem. The cylinder and barrel are in fair and solid shape, with rifling still clearly present in the barrel.
My smith is on vacation for the next 2 weeks so if this does not sell by then I will be sending it in for the repair and asking a full price of $2250 once it is functional
Given that with functional springs an American Bull Dog in this visual and mechanical condition would typically sell for $1800-$2500, I am asking $1349 for it as a project gun with expected costs of $300-400 and am happy to send you the contact for my smith who would be willing to remake the springs and repair it upon purchase.
