For sale is a sharp shootin', cap blastin', shiny antique Remington New Army .44. Also called the 1858 model, this is a US civil war era revolver, and was made to compete with the prevailing Colt 1851 revolvers of the time, costing slightly more due to high build quality. This big iron feels very nice in the hand! The 8" barrel makes for fantastic accuracy, and with .454" lead balls propelled by a black powder explosion these revolvers are nothing to take lightly. As a pre-1898 Antique, this handgun can be owned by anyone over 18 with no PAL, registration, or unreasonable interference by Ottawa-based meddlers.

The mechanics of this gun show consistent indexing and performance. The cylinder is in extremely great shape, spins nicely, and is clean with very nice percussion nipples. The hammer sits at all 4 positions (lockup, half cock, locked half cock, and full) and has a strong spring. All works as intended. The cylinder pin and ramrod work very smoothly. The rifling is still defined though with typical levels of fouling from over 160 years of black powder use.

Visuals are overall strong. The steel is very well cared for with a clean surface, and the hammer even shows trace case hardening hues. The original dark, almost ebony, hardwood grips are beautiful and sturdy. The 3 line barrel address is mostly legible. A very fine looker!

Comes with papers, 18+, no PAL, ships Canada
