This is an Antique Colt Model 1851 Navy Percussion Revolver. This has a 7-1/2” barrel with a fully legible and clear barrel address. This has a 6 shot .36 caliber cylinder with none of the roll engraving still visible. The grips are in very good condition with a light amount of handling dings. Matching serial numbers found on the barrel, wedge, trigger guard and grip strap. Mechanically in very good condition with proper timing and lockup.
Colt produced roughly 255000 of these revolvers from 1850 to 1873 making it their third most produced percussion revolver behind the model 1849 and 1860. This one being produced in 1856. The Colt Model 1851 was a know to be carried by famous outlaw Ned Kelly and a pair of 1851’s were said to be carried by famous lawman James Butler “Wild Bill” Hickok. This Colt is a true survivor, lasting 168 years and would look great on any mantle.
