This is an Antique Remington Model 95 Type I Late Production also referred to as the “Remington Double Derringer”. The Type I was produced from 1866 to 1888. It has 3” tip up barrels chambered in .41 rimfire. There is a latch release on the right side of the frame and a shell extractor on the left side of the barrel. It also has bird’s head grips and a spur trigger. This item retains about 70%+ of nickel finish. The wood grips are in excellent condition. Mechanically it seems to function as it should with a very strong action and hinges.
The Remington Double Derringer was a reliable firearm that saw a production run of 69 years and was carried by outlaws and lawmen alike. The famous lawman Wild Bill Hickok was said to carry a pair of these as backup at times.
This is easily the most recognizable of all the Deringer type pistols and would make a beautiful addition to any collection.
This is an antique so no PAL is required for purchase. Buyer must be 18 and able to prove it. Shipping is available at buyers expense. All used firearms should be inspected by a competent gunsmith prior to any form of use.
