This is a antique Colt Model 1889 Navy Revolver. This revolver has the desirable 3” barrel with a sharp barrel address. It has a 6 shot fluted cylinder and is chambered in .41 Colt. This revolver retains approximately 98% of it’s original finish with fire blue still found on the trigger and hammer. The right grip is in near perfect condition with minimal signs of wear. The left grip has a small chip missing but doesn’t show any other signs of damage . Mechanically in perfect condition with proper timing in both single and double action.
Colt produced 31000 model 1889’s from 1889 to 1894 with this one being made in the final year of production. The Colt model 1889 was Colt’s first revolver to have a swing out cylinder. It is also unique in that the cylinder rotates counterclockwise. The 1889 is also known for not having resting cylinder stops which was changed in later models.
This revolver would easily be a focal point in any antique collection with its beauty clearly standing above the rest.
