This is a Rare Antique Remington Early Production Type I, A.K.A. The Double Derringer.  Remington produced around 150000 model 95’s between 1866 and 1935. There were only around 1600 produced before the addition of an extractor.   Making this one the hardest to find for collectors.  This type is marked “E.Remington & Sons, Ilion, N.Y.” on one side of the barrel rib and “Elliot’s Patent Dec. 12, 1865” on the other. Later models would see the addition of an extractor and the barrel address moved to the top rib.  This has a 3” barrel, is chambered in .41 rimfire and has a spur trigger.  There are a a few light handling dings and almost no original finish left. The grips are in fine condition. Mechanically it is still very strong with the action working and cycling as it should. The hinges are intact.  There is a slight play in the lock up which would be a fraction of a millimeter.
These were carried by many people in the Wild West as they were easily concealed.  Wild Bill Hickok is said to have carried a pair of these at times.  This would make a great addition to a Remington collection and could be the centre piece to any collection.
