I have a rare Hopkins & Allen XL No. 3 revolver, the smaller companion to the Hopkins & Allen Double Action XL. This is a compact antique 5-shot revolver chambered in .32 Rimfire Short, and it has a surprisingly modern, sleek appearance.

Condition & Function

• Times very nicely
• Good lockup
• Chambers 5 rounds of .32 RF Short
• Weak trigger return spring:
  • Trigger doesn’t always return fully forward
  • Double action works intermittently
  • Single action works perfectly
  • You can manually push the trigger forward if needed
• Easy repair:
  • Spring can be reshaped
  • Or a replacement can be purchased from Numrich
• I don’t have time to fix it, so it’s priced accordingly

Aesthetics

• Features very nice white grips, giving it a clean and elegant appearance
• A rare and attractive piece that still displays very well
