Belgian proof mark "British Bull-Dog", DA.44 Webley / 44 Russian Center Fire 6 rounds Revolver This one is in very good condition. The most of original blue is intact. The action is accurate, and the cylinder indexes and locks properly in single action and a little heavy in double action. The walnut grips are excellent and undamaged, with sharp checkering. The bore of the 2 3/4 inch barrel is very good and bright. The gun is chambered for a 44 Webley cartridge but can accommodate a 44 Russian ammo. Sharp markings, pre-1893 Belgian proofs.
"Bulldogs" were based on the very successful Webley Bulldogs, and were the European equivalent of the American compact pocket revolvers of the 1880's. Made by reputable makers, these small but powerful revolvers enjoyed tremendous popularity back in the day - and again today.
