Antique REMINGTON New Model POCKET .32 Rimfire Revolver - A Percussion Design Adapted to Fire Cartridges!
Description:
Antique REMINGTON New Model POCKET .32 Rimfire Revolver
Antique Remington New Model Pocket Revolver in .32 Rimfire. This revolver was designed for defensive carry and would have been equally at home in a holster, pocket or purse. These revolvers were made during a period when Smith & Wesson owned the Rollin White Patent, which turned out to be the best way to incorporate use of metallic cartridges in revolvers. Companies like Remington and Colt were relegated to continue production of revolvers with the percussion firing system until the patent expired in 1869. Once this happened, companies lost no time fitting their percussion models with various cartridge conversions or incorporating this new technology at the factory.
This example of the New Model Pocket Revolver demonstrates this transition well. Here’s a Pocket Revolver that features the “Improved” technology of a cartridge cylinder, though many were sold with both a cartridge and a percussion cylinder for the same gun.
The overall condition is good. The action is strong. The bore is dark with the lands and grooves being easily visible. Has lost significant amounts of the finish, but has developed a nice patina.
Barrel is 3-1/2 inches.
Caliber: .32 Rimfire
Overall condition as seen in photos.
Asking $1,500 shipped. Ammo can be discussed.
