An original large bore flintlock pistol by the gunsmith Archer, London. He operated under this name from 1799 to 1803. It has a crisp action and is in lovely condition. Details such as the sparking symbol next to the pan and a platinum-lined touch hole indicate that this is a superior-quality weapon of the type frequently purchased by British officers during the Peninsular War.
Update
I have reduced the price owing to the discovery of a surface crack to the hammer and some finish marks near the trigger guard. Both are visible in the photos. It is still a very nice looking pistol. I do not believe it has been refinished. I will send extra photos if you are interested.
See my other listings for an interesting Unwin and Rodgers "Self Protector" pistol.
