German Model 1879 Reichsrevolver manufactured by F.Dreyse Sommerda, aprox 7.2" barrel, 6 shot, chambered in 11mm German Ordnance which is very similar to the more common 44 Russian. Most use 44 Russian in these Reichsrevolvers as it's easy/cheap to reload. The 1879 Reichsrevolver is a force to be reckoned with as it shoots a large 44 cal bullet and can double as a battle hammer if ammo ran out. The action on this piece functions well in single and double action. Timing and lockup are good. Half and full cock work well. Original grips show common dings, lanyard ring is intact. Pommel of handle has German military unit markings and should make for interesting research. The safety lever on sideplate works to engage safety but the stop tab is missing so the lever can be turned to far if one tried, it's not a problem as the lever stays in place with natural pressure. The cylinder pin retention screw tab is missing which is very common to these 1879s. Bore shows expected wear/corrosion common to vintage revolvers. Overall a nice 1879 Reichsrevolver. Antique status in Canada, no PAL required to purchase or own. Will include an RCMP FRT printout showing antique status in Canada. $2325 includes Free Shipping.
