H&R American Double Action, 44, Antique

Harrington & Richardson American Double Action Model in 44 caliber, 2.5" barrel, 5 shot. 44 Russian brass with RNFP lead fits well in cylinder, headspace is tight by breach so rim face needs to be lightly filed down to prevent it binding. This is the rare, hard to find first model first variant, manufactured between 1884-1887. Exterior retains a fair bit of its original nickel. Original grips are in good shape. Bore and cylinder walls show wear. Half and full cock work well. In double action the action cycles well with the occasional hang up, in single action it more often hangs up but often cycles well with no hang ups. Timing is good, lockup has about 3mm movement. Hammer drops well upon trigger pull but hammer has slight resistance where firing pin should clear the flash hole as such it needs some adjusting. The action would benefit from some maintenance for the aforementioned issues which likely are an easy fix for someone mechanically inclined.
