Remington New Model Army, 1863 Civil War Production

Reminaton New Model Army in 44 Percussion caliber, 8" barrel, 6 shot. Serial number dates it to 1863 production, right in the middle of the American Civil War! The Remington 44 revolvers were one of the most common sidearms seen on Civil War battlefields. Many preferred the Remingtons over the Colt's as they utilized a solid top strap vs an open top like the Colt's. The action on this piece functions well with good timing and lockup. Half cock is not present. Bore shows wear/ corrosion. Cylinder nipples are in good shape. Grips show common wear. Exterior of revolver shows dings/scratches and wear.
