Manufactured by the London firm of John Edward Barnett & Sons, this Enfield bears both the Confederate States Viewer's acceptance mark (T.S.) at the heel of the buttplate and Confederate States repair depot mark (X) on the underside "belly" of the stock approximately 2" ahead of the forward trigger guard extension.
The rifle is in overall good + or better condition and appears to be all-original. Marked parts, right down to the tang and lock bolts, carry the same assembly mark. The trigger guard mounted sling swivel appears to be some type of reproduction that is not correct for the rifle. The half cock notch is worn and the trigger will release the hammer at half cock. Photos showing the various markings on the barrel, stock, lock and other components are available upon request.
Proof of age is required.
Will consider taking non-military flintlock arms in trade. Projects welcome. No reproductions please.
As with any antique firearm, it is recommended the rifle be examined by a competent Gunsmith prior to firing.
