have a rare Lee Metford Mark II* circa 1895 made by LSA for sale. The rifle had the Lee Speed Patents mark. The left side of the receiver has the proper London proof marks. This rifle bears the stamp on the middle of the buttstock of the UVF. This stands for Ulster Volunteer Force. The stamp has a hand palm facing outward surrounded by the UVF then FOR GOD AND ULSTER. The UVF were a Protestant force with over 100 000 members formed to fight against England giving Ireland home rule. This would result it was thought in a Catholic Majority rule. The rifle has a very good plus bore for a Metford... most have shot out bores due to smokeless powder use. The metal shows about 75% original blue. The actions very well. The original long range volley sights are present as well as both sling swivels. Mag cut off and bolt dust cover. A very nice example of a an Olong Lee Metford Mark II*
