Siamese Type 45/66 Mauser
This rifle was built by the Koishikawa Arsenal in Tokyo for the Siamese military contract. It was designed in 1903 as the Type 45, and upgraded after 1923 to the 45/66 design, which utilized an improved cartridge. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries Siam was not colonized by foreign powers, so had a standing military that contracted unique rifle designs such as this one.
It has a sliding dustcover that rests in front of the breech when not in use. I found this an interesting feature so I included it in the photos - pictures of both closed and open dust cover.
Caliber 8x52mmR - this can be reloaded using converted 8x56mmR Mannlicher brass.
