Good Day,

I'm looking for a Mannlicher M95 that has been reworked/refurbished in the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (Later to be known as Yugoslavia) during the interwar period. The most significant modifications were the replacement of the original barrel with a Yugo M24 barrel, the stock was shortened and a different handguard was used. The bolt, chamber and magazine were reworked to accommodate the 7.92x57mm (8mm Mauser) cartridge rather than the original 8x50mmR, along with the appropriate cutouts to allow the user to load the rifle by way of a typical 5-round Mauser stripper clip.

This conversion was done in order to simplify ammunition logistics as 8mm Mauser was the most common rifle cartridge in use in Yugoslavia at that point, and would continue to be for a long time.

The receiver ring retains its original Austro-Hungarian arsenal designation, with the addition of a single letter "M" next to the "M95" hence the name "M95M" (see photo 2). There are some models marked with a "M95/24" marking although it is unknown if this is simply just a different designation for the same rifle or if it is a different conversion entirely due to the lack of information.

Please reach out if you have a lead, thank you.
