Browning B78 Bicentennial Edition Single Shot Rifle.

Belgium master engraved.

This is a very specific gun for a very specific buyer. If you do not already know about this gun, this ad is not for you. This is the finest single shot Browning has made.

Not only is this gun highly and masterfully engraved, it does not have any ridiculous portraits of John Browning or idiotic text than typically ruins Browning’s engraved special editions.

This gun has never been fired. This gun will likely never be fired. This gun is meant to go in a safe and be taken out on occasion to admire. With good company and single malt.

You will not see one of these for sale in this country. You will have to wait until one is available at auction in the good old Red White & Blue. And pay all of the associated exchange and import fees. Like I did.

1 of 1000 (Number 0696).
All made in 45-70 with a 24 inch octagonal barrel.

General Information on this gun:
Manufactured in 1976 as 1 of 1000 to commemorate the United States bicentennial. The rifle features finely detailed floral scroll engraving at the muzzle on all of the flats but the top, which is fitted with a dovetailed fixed blade sight. The rear sight is adjustable for elevation and is of a semi-buckhorn configuration. The breech end of the barrel features more floral scroll engraving. The coin finished receiver features highly detailed animal scenes of an American bison on the right in a plains scene and an American bald eagle standing on a branch on the left. Both scenes feature circular punch borders and are surrounded by more floral scroll. The lever is similarly engraved. Mounted on a fancy Schnabel tip, multi-point checkered forearm and straight grip stock with an engraved blue crescent buttplate. Includes the hardwood display case with a fitted red velour interior, bicentennial medallion, and an etched Browning fixed blade knife numbered to the gun.
