For sale is a Springfield Armory M1 Garand built on an original WWII receiver, serial number 3,131,xxx, manufactured in September 1944. This rifle was later converted by the Italian military to 7.62×51 NATO (308) and bears the desirable "7.62-2" receiver marking along with Italian FAFT/FAT arsenal markings.
Unlike many commercial .308 conversions, this rifle is a military arsenal-converted example, combining the history of a WWII Springfield with the practicality of the NATO cartridge. The result is a unique Garand that retains its military heritage while being chambered for widely available and affordable 7.62 NATO / .308 ammunition.
The rifle presents very well with a strong military appearance. Receiver markings are clear and sharp, metal finish is clean and uniform, and the walnut stock shows honest service wear consistent with its age and history. A fantastic addition for all Sport shooters, collectors, military surplus enthusiasts, or anyone looking for a Garand that's equally at home in a collection or on the range.
