.240 Gibbs rifle.  It is essentially a 30-06 cartridge that is blown out and necked down to .24.  A 25-06 case can also be necked down to achieve this.

Rocky Gibbs made a career / life out of wildcatting the 30-06 cartridge.  After WWII he had a good supplier of high quality 30-06 brass that could withstand high pressures, and he was using it for everything.  The .270 Gibbs seems to be the most common Gibbs rifle chambering, but there were many others (9 in total), all the way from .24 all the way up to .35.  Gibbs also experimented with “front ignition” and duplex loading, a very interesting rabbit hole to go down and research.

Gun was originally a CIL chambered in .243 Winchester, rechambered and restamped as a .240 Gibbs.  Rifle  comes as is, with dies ($400 value alone), 90 - 100 brass, and Weaver scope mounting base.  I do believe this is a fairly “rare” caliber/ chambering, as I have seen .270 Gibbs rifles at gun shows before, but this is the only .240 Gibbs I have ever seen.
Asking price $1200.
