The Johnson Model of 1941 is one of the most desirable and collectible American military rifles of the Second World War. Designed by Melvin Johnson as a competitor to the M1 Garand, it features the rifle’s distinctive 10-round rotary magazine, quick-detachable barrel system, and innovative semi-automatic design.

This example falls within the early production range with a receiver serial number in the 36 range. While it cannot be confirmed whether this specific rifle was delivered under the original Dutch contract, it was manufactured during the period associated with the early Netherlands East Indies production block.

One of the standout features of this rifle is its exceptionally well-preserved metal condition. Receiver markings remain sharp and fully legible, edges are crisp, and the original ventilated barrel shroud remains intact. Overall metal condition is significantly better than what is typically encountered on surviving Johnson rifles.

The bore is excellent, with strong, sharp rifling and a bright interior. Combined with the outstanding metal preservation, this rifle presents as a well-above-average Johnson M1941.

The stock retains its original military appearance. An old repair is visible in the stock wrist area behind the receiver. The repair appears stable with no looseness or movement observed during inspection. Please refer to photos for details.

The rifle is missing its original bayonet lug assembly. For collectors wishing to restore the rifle to original military configuration, bayonet lug components can still occasionally be found on the collector market.
