📜 Description

This is an original Lee-Enfield No.5 Mk I Jungle Carbine, manufactured at Fazakerley in May 1945. The rifle retains its distinctive shortened and lightened design, featuring a flash hider with integral bayonet lug, a blade front sight with protective ears and ramp, and a fully adjustable milled rear aperture sight (graduated to 800 yards).

The rifle is fitted with three-piece full military wood furniture, pistol grip stock, and a black rubber recoil pad. The forearm tip does show a crack, consistent with age and service history. Metal finish is blued, with visible scratches, handling marks, and wear from honest use. The stock also displays dings and wear appropriate for a surplus military rifle.

Importantly, the bolt is matching to the receiver, a desirable detail for collectors.

⚔️ Collectibility & Historical Significance

The No.5 Mk I Jungle Carbine was introduced in 1944 as a lighter, handier version of the Lee-Enfield for use in the Far East and jungle campaigns. Its shorter barrel, flash hider, and rubber recoil pad made it distinctive among Lee-Enfield rifles. Original Fazakerley-marked 1945 carbines are sought after by both collectors and shooters alike.
