This is a rare Italian-manufactured Breda M1 Garand chambered in 7.62×51mm NATO (.308), produced post-WWII under U.S. license. The receiver is clearly marked "BREDA MECCANICA ROMANA".
This rifle is a Tipo 2 NATO conversion, featuring a standard M1 Garand action modified for NATO use. It comes with its original Italian military green crate, labeled "FUCILE CAL. 7.62 M1 ARMATO TIPO 2 CON CANNOCCHIALE MOD. 84", indicating it was capable of being fitted with the original Mod. 84 sniper scope.
