Offered here is an original Martini-Henry Mk II rifle, chambered in .577/450, featuring the classic single-shot falling-block action.
A clear “88/348” marking is visible on the barrel base, indicating inspection or manufacture in 1888, while an additional “1896 / Punjab” stamp shows later arsenal re-inspection.
These markings—together with Broad Arrow and Crown proof stamps in the Birmingham proof pattern—confirm British manufacture, as such marks were used only by U.K. arsenals and contractors (such as Birmingham Small Arms & Metals Co.) before colonial issue.
The rifle retains its original full-length barrel, bayonet lug, barrel bands, sling swivels, and the original cleaning rod with assembly marks.
Multiple British military inspection stamps are visible on the metalwork, confirming official acceptance.
The bore condition is excellent — bright, reflective, and sharply defined with strong rifling.
A fine, well-preserved example of a British-made late Victorian service rifle, later inspected at Punjab Arsenal in 1896.
