Offered here is a U.S. Rock Island Arsenal Model 1903 bolt-action rifle chambered in .30-06 Springfield, built on an original 1918 Rock Island Arsenal receiver.

This rifle is an authentic U.S. military arsenal rebuild, retaining a High Standard (HS) replacement barrel dated 3-44 (March 1944) with the U.S. Ordnance Flaming Bomb marking. The stock bears a clearly visible Augusta Arsenal (AA) rebuild cartouche along with the circled “P” proof mark, representing its continued U.S. military service from the WWI era into WWII.

The rifle retains its classic M1903 ladder rear sight and straight bolt handle. The metal remains in very good military condition with honest service patina and no obvious commercial refinishing. The walnut stock shows expected service wear and has an arsenal-period repair near the circled “P” proof mark. The upper handguard has a very shallow surface crack that does not penetrate through the wood and remains structurally stable.

The bore is bright and clean with strong, sharp rifling. Mechanically, the rifle functions properly, with smooth bolt operation and correct feeding, extraction, and ejection.
