Looking to sell my 1893 shotgun. This was the predisesor to the famous 1897 shotgun. This example was produced in 1896 and is chambered for 12ga 2-5/8" shells. Some minor pitting in the barrel, but to be expected with these old shotguns.
When this shotgun came out, winchester faced a lawsuit over the idea of a pump action firearm. Mostly concerning the winchester 1890 vs the Spencer shotgun. By the time winchester win the lawsuit, they realized a black powder shotgun that used 2-5/8" shells was likely to cause more lawsuits, so they released the 1897 to fix these problems, and recalled the 1893 guns for a free upgrade to the 1897. Making these guns even more rare today.
I recommend doing your research before trying to shoot this gun, I haven't fired this example, but my last 1893 was a lot of fun to take out.
