I've acquired a 151 year old bolt action 11x52 rifle from what I was told and have found online. It's originally a cap & ball gun that was converted to bolt action with a strip fed magazine . Front screw of trigger guard is missing as well as rear sight. Stock is also cracked at the bolt area.UPDATE:
First $200 takes it!
A fellow Gunposter has informed me he believes this to be an Dutch Beaumont rifle produced between 1871-1887. I'd used Google picture search when I originally posted this. I'm going to contact a local retired gunsmith...and take it to him if he's willing to have a look see. Any further info I manage to glean from this will be posted on listing as Update II.
Someone who has another of these with complete stock could swap out the barrel and action quite easily I believe. I also feel fairly certain no PAL is required to purchase this as ammunition is got to be non existent, nor would anyone in their right mind attempt firing it should some be found in my opinion. 1874 is stamped on the barrel . I've read that some of these were used in first world war but not sure by whom. I'm happy to take more pictures or give modified info should I find out what I've stated to be inaccurate. It's the kind of item one should see in person to truly decide if interested... This is more a museum piece or display gun once repaired...be very cool to see completed should someone with experience take it on. Thanks for looking!
