Scarce Model 1873 44-40 SRC Mfg in 1884 serial #156,×××.
1873 carbines are tough to find in good shape. Most were heavily used, often on horseback in all kinds of weather.
Weighing les s than 7 lbs this is one of the lightest 73's you will find. Rifle models are much heavier. This 73 carries well and feels good in hand. The forestock has two cracks, one underneath near the magazine tube tip and one on the side near the receiver. The buttstock is in good shape. Missing dust cover(available at homesteadparts.com). Shoots well. Certainly a fun, collectible classic.
