Valmet M78/83s in .308

For sale a Valmet M78/83s - this build had a project name Commando 2.0

The rifle was imported from Finland into the US around 1986, by Odin International. The M78/83s - or the "sniper" version was sold as the premium model with two variations - one in black polymer furniture and one in wood. It is believed that less than 100 rifles in the wood variation were imported and produced, making this one a true unicorn. 

The modifications and cerakote were done at Black Box Customs, AB. The rifle has Valman AK2.0 furniture, allowing for installation of modernized mlok front hand guard, and optics side mount. In order to fit this rifle, the shop manufactured custom front and rear brackets for the hand guard, as well as machining a custom plate for fitting the optics mount. Fit and finish are top quality, with small battle scars around the ejection port - the AK pattern rifles like to sling brass far away. When I got it it was barely fired, and since I've shot less than 300 rounds. For a piece of hardware that is almost 40 years old, it is in exceptional condition.

The rifle comes with 8 magazines, something extremely rare, as they are hard to find and tend to sell for $500 a piece. Also in the package are an original Fiskars bayonet, a sling in Swedish M90 camo matching the cerakote job, as well as the original bipod and optics plate.

This Valmet is non-restricted and one of the rare exceptions of semi-auto rifles allowed in Canada. I'm switching focus to another hobby, and it's time for someone else to enjoy this rare firearm. Serious inquiries only, PAL/RPAL is a must.
