Here is a Mauser GEW 98 built in 1905 in Oberndorf factory. Serial numbers matching except bolt which is self matching. Missing one sling swivel screw and locking screws snapped in the holes. Metal in good condition, some blue finish still present. No rust or pitting. Wood stock had been cut at the butt for some reason and reattached. Maybe someone was trying to make a duffle cut at an uncommon location. The repair did very well and solid, looks reinforced with steel bolt and resin. Otherwise there’s only light handling marks on the wood. Stock cartouches are clearly visible. There’s regiment number on the stock disc which is rare. I haven’t shot it but action cycles well.
